Renegade Craft Fair

This weekend was the 2nd Annual Los Angeles Renegade Craft Fair. I ended up going with my sister and friend this a lazy saturday afternoon. We ended up with a lot of loot as expected.

My sister bought this exact necklace from Social Grace Designs. It's a 24k gold origami ball.
I wanted to get one of these urban necklaces from Thief and Bandit.

I had to restrain myself from buying multiple rings from Verameat whose array of cute animal rings had me glued to the table for quite sometime.
There seemed to be an overflow of booths selling custom stationary... nevertheless, most were adorable.
Irma ended up buying a succulent terrarium from Chandra Abel. The glass ball jars she kept them in would be perfect for window or table scapes!
I ended up buying Morgan this shirt from Gnome Enterprises because it reminded me of him. There was so much to do and see. Next year, I have to take advantage of the free photobooth and the many foodie stands!

Wicker Treasure

A couple weeks ago, while walking home from our neighborhood froyo joint, Morgan and I came across two wicker chairs that someone had left unceremoniously on the sidewalk. We decided to take them off the street and into our own backyard. Last weekend, my friend Glenn came over and together, on a humid summer afternoon, we bought white spray paint from Home Depot and a couple of cushions from Cost Plus World Market and voila, new patio furniture for out backyard!

Pillow Talk

Before moving into our new apartment, I would often spend nights rummaging through design blogs for inspiration . I came across these two photos of pillow-heavy couches. I kind of like the fact that the pillows seem to be bubbling over in excitement. They also provide another canvas for color in a white-walled room.

Les Parapluies de Los Angeles

The weather in LA has been so topsy turvy this past week. From the Floridian humidity to the fickle mid-morning rain showers, we've been having to carry an umbrella for the heat and the rain. Here's hoping that this week we can put away our parapluies and get back to the 80 degree weather us LA folk are so accustomed to.

LA Flea Market

Today was the first annual LA flea market and I thought I would share some of my finds. My favorites are the blue and white porcelain umbrella holder and the gold floral basket ring. the experience though would have been a lot better if it wasn't the hottest day of the summer. I wanted to try the Coolhaus truck but the line was way too long.

Coaches or Buggies?

Today, when grabbing a quick bite to eat on my way home, I came across the cutest car I've seen. It was a light pink vintage Volkswagen bug with a broken side mirror. I snapped a photo of it despite the fact that I felt like a bit of a stalker. I couldn't help imagine myself driving up the 101 in this beauty while listening to my favorite beach mix. The light pink also happens to be the same color of the purse I've been drooling over for the past couple of months by Emily over at Cupcakes and Cashmere.

Lovely shades

I'm obsessed with these lovely images I found via Absolutely Beautiful Things and Oh Happy Blog. I love how the progression of color and how feminine they feel! The second photo makes me want to go buy a tutu to wear around the house.

The Apartment on Finley

As Morgan and I finally got around to equipping our apartment with the essentials i.e.. furniture, cookery, and art, we decided to post our apartment on Airbnb. If you're not familiar, it's a website where you can rent out privately owned spaces in peoples homes or their entire apartments instead of staying at pricey hotels. Anyway, here are some of the photos we posted!

Here's the Skinny

My friend Ashley has asked me to art direct a 70's inspired short film she is producing for a 48 hour film challenge. Because I can't be there on set, I put together a look book to help her and her crew get on the right track. To often while researching, I found myself shuddering at the overwhelmingly bright and color-blocked aesthetic. However, I did come across some hidden gems. Above are just some of my favorites. I love the pinks, yellows and how Lucite and mirrored furniture has made a comeback!

Kitchen Sets

I just wanted to share a few images i've had stored away of stunning kitchen sets. The first is a still from Julia and Julia. I love the turquoise cabinets and how they make the wood look like gold. The last two are from Pushing Daises which, while it was on, was like porn for me in terms of set design.

Candied Cluster Wall

I've been collecting bits and pieces here and there for the cluster wall I've always wanted to create.
Things I've accumulated:
Zebra Bust -Anthropologie, Glendale CA
Chair Prints- Annechovie Via Florida, CA
Blue Bird Print- Heather Brown, North Shore HI
Purple Cactus Print- The Cocky Cactus, Palm Springs CA
Vintage Mirrors -Thrift Stores, Southern California

My favorite purchase were my chair prints from blogger Anne Harwell of Annechovie. Her prints were inspired by another infamous blogger Anna Spiro.
Anna Spiro's own upholstered chair.

Sugar & Cream

I've been drooling over this tea cup dress from Anthropologie for the past couple of days now. Today, I nearly keeled over when Morgan came home from running errands and surprised me with it!
This post is brought to you by Miss Gaga herself.

Lolita Tea Party

Last weekend, my friend Felicia came down to Los Angeles for the 2010 Anime Expo. When she laid out her outfit for following day's festivities, I was graciously introduced to different Lolita brands like Baby, The Stars Shine Bright and Angelic Pretty. By combining lace, frills, and Victorian lines, I was intoxicated by the overwhelming culture of this cute style. With a little creativity and luck, we were able to create a chic country Lolita look that I could wear. Having dressed like a Lolita and having loved every minute of it, I want to have a Lolita Tea Party with cakes and teas that are decorated in the same overall cuteness.
