It's a celebration!

Crack open the bubbly, it's my blogs birthday. It's taken 670 days but she's finally reached her 100 post. I wish to extend my gratitude to Morgan and his family who have supported me artistically and technically in the proliferation of Winkeland. I also want to say thanks to my friends and family who've continued to read and return to my blog. Lastly but not leastly, I want to thank the countess bloggers who I continue to draw everlasting inspiration from.

Holly Jolly Teaser #2

Since I'm leaving for Florida in a couple of days and won't be back till the 7th, I've dedicated all my free time to decorating for our Holly Jolly party. Every time I start a new project, I get a little anxious and start three more. Needless to say I'm glad we're doing it early. Here's another teaser to tide you over until I get back. Do I smell snowflake doilies?

Give Thanks

Photos Courtesy of Morgan
Last weekend, a bunch of our film friends got together and celebrated Thanksgiving with a festive potluck. The dinner was graciously held at my friend Desiree's home in Los Feliz and I had the chance to stop by the night before to lend a helping hand in the festooning. It wasn't long until we discovered that parties are inevitably better when there are sequins and banners involved. The place looked amazing and everyone left with bellies filled with Sangria and deep fried turkey!

Small Gift, Big Smile

Sanrio and it's band of lovable characters will always have a spot in my heart! Today, Morgan and I ventured West to Santa Monica to partake in Small Gift, a touring carnival in honor of Sanrio's 50th anniversary. I was overwhelmed by the many kitty-faced kids who were just as exited over Hello Kitty and Kerroppi as me and my sister once were. Tomorrow is their last day, so if you want to go check it out, I recommend it. If cute little animals isn't your thing, you can still check out some art, eat from amazing food trucks, and get a head start on your x-mas shopping in their pop-up shop.

Singing in the Rain

Happy Friday everyone! Weather forecasters predict a wet and cold weekend so break out your rain boots and winter wear. If you're in the market for a shiny new umbrella, these are just a few of my favorites this season. How cute would these little guys be atop your head? For those of you who plan on avoiding the rain this weekend, be weary of those rainy day blues and keep busy by baking or snuggling by the fire!

Hot Hula

Monday night, my friend Darlene and I curiously moseyed into the "Hot Hula" class at our local gym. By the end of the night, despite not having mastered our Amis and our Kaholos, I went home daydreaming of the warm Hawaiian Islands. Seeing as how Hawaii has brought me so much joy in the past, I was slightly perturbed at how much pain our little hula lesson could bring to my future. The next morning, I woke up with extreme soreness in my abdominals which lasted nearly three days.
Despite my small dose of aversion therapy, I'll try to regale in some pretty Hawaiian images to bring happiness to my mind and body once again.

A Sticky Alternative

Here's a little art to spice up your Monday night! While on Apartment Therapy, I ran into an art installation from Brooklyn based Payton Turner. What looks like chic chandeliered wallpaper from afar is actually custom made stickers arranged together to form beautiful patterns. I wonder if she works in scratch and sniff. I ever have enough patience and extra cash, I want to attempt something like this in our bathroom. I would worry that the stickers would start peeling from the moisture though.

Holly Jolly Teaser

As some of you guys might know, Morgan and I are throwing a Holiday party in December. I decided to get a head start on some of the decorations seeing as how our weekends are filling up fast. Here's a quick little teaser on what to expect!

Exploring L.A.

Today was spent exploring parts of El Lay that Morgan and I had never been to. Alongside his parents Cathy and Bob, we took the red line down to Union Station. Once there, I couldn't help but sit in one of the streamlined booths, admire the architecture, and try to soak up the Blade Runner mojo that I hoped still lingered in the air. From there, we crossed the street and made our way to Olvera Street, which was once called Sonora Town. With my horchata in hand, I lazily strolled down the old cobblestone path and had fun peaking into incense-infused candle shops and admiring the colors of the many Dia de los Muertos skulls. We ended up back in the Los Feliz village where we chowed down at Umami Burger and then headed to Scoops for some blackberry jasmine ice cream. All in all, another great day in the City of Angeles!

Trim Trimminy

I got a little treat today when I opened an email from Anthropologie. It contained a link to their sweet teaser trailer for their 2010 collection of holiday ornaments. I've picked out a few of my favorites this year including the felt garland and the feather ornament set! Also, be expecting another post just on their wrapping section.

Tea Cup Installation!

Last weekend, I found two of the most gorgeous stripped turquoise and white tea cups at my local Goodwill. I knew I had scored something of caliber when I noticed several curious onlookers eyeing my treasure. I came home to realize that i've accrued quite a collection of tea cups and no way to display them. I began looking for different ways to showcase my cute collection and I came across these adorable ideas that could double as kitchen decor! Can you imagine how cute those little tea cup cubbies would be with little bit of patterned wallpaper swatches behind them?

Disney Does it Better

Once upon a time...A couple friends went to Disneyland for the holidays.
The happiest place on earth just got a little bit happier. If you really want to slather on some thick holiday spirit this year, just plan a trip to Disneyland. No one decks the halls better than Disney and that's a fact. I'm always so amazed at how fast the Disney populous are able to transform Disneyland into, essentially, one giant christmas ornament. By this weekend the metamorphosis should be complete and although we missed the big Main Street christmas tree this past weekend, i'm sure Morgan and I will frequent Disneyland one more time before the year's end.

And in honor of our trip to Disney World in two weeks, I thought I'd leave you with this awesome tilt stop motion!

All the leaves are brown.

Being raised on the west coast, particularly southern California, one rarely sees the seasons change. Today felt like one of those welcomed exceptions. Morgan and I ventured outside and enjoyed the dip in temperature which was accompanied by bits of chilly winds. We watched the leaves drop, crunched some of those fallen leaves, and played catch. Afterwards, I had the strongest urge to go inside, bake some cookies, and heat up some warm apple cider.
