Bits and pieces

{My newly thrifted Alice-Inspired tea cup}

I just thought I would share some images from this past weekend that are currently making me happy and are also helping heal my swollen ankle. It also looks like I'm developing a slight case of the sniffles as well. When it rains, it pours I guess. On the bright side, It looks like i'll be getting good use out of my tea cups this week!

a little busted

crutch
...i was this glamours despite my recent injury. I sprained my ankle Saturday night and have been practically bed ridden ever since. Even thought we had to cancel our Disneyland day trip, Morgan and I made up for it by playing on his new ipad, cat napping, watching t.v. and eating take out.

Birthday Cake

happybday
Thanks to all of you who came out last night to celebrate Morgan's 25th Birthday. Here's the secret carrot cake I ended up baking. I was inspired by the recent cake toppers featured on 100 Layer Cake. Because I was in such a rush to bake it, frost it, and take it to the restaurant all before Morgan came home, I cautioned our guests to watch for rogue tooth picks and sandy egg shells. Luckily, there were no complaints. The little banners were super easy to make and the little gnome is actually a scrap booking sticker.

Tape it Pretty

If you ever go to the K-town Galleria on Western and Olympic, you must take my advice and try one of the tuna croquettes from the market bakery and peruse the cute Sanrio/stationary stores on the second floor. I can't believe I scored these adorable rolls of Japanese washi tape for 99 cents each! I can't wait to wrap baby Morgan's birthday present in it!

Print Club

Morgan and I spent the weekend in Irvine visiting with friends and paying homage to some of our old food hangouts. You couldn't believe my devastation, however, when I found out that Swaad, an Indian restaurant whose mango corn soup I still dream about, was no longer in business. Nevertheless, my doldrums were placated when we came across the Diamond Shopping Plaza off Jamboree and Alton Parkway. It's a fairly new strip mall where you can get bomb asian food, sing karaoke, and take cute purikura photos.

a little reminder...

spring
Although it's kind of hard to get into the Spring season with all this rain, it's finally here. I can't believe March is almost over. This year has been flying by and it just keeps getting better and better. I'm excited for what lies ahead of me and the feelings of renewal that are synonymous with this sweet season!

Amazing. I've added yet another cat dress to my wardrobe. I'm waiting for this American Apparel cat dress to blow up on Lookbook and all the other fashion blogs. Spring time is for kitties!

Marshmallow Day

whiteday
This past weekend we hosted the second portion of our Valentine's potluck and kicked up our heels in celebration of Marshmallow Day, also known as White Day. Not being one to sleep in on the weekends, I woke up bright and early to prep. This included setting up tables and chairs in our backyard, hanging my burlap garland, making a succulent terrarium centerpiece and ensuring that our white-colored heart balloons remained unfettered by our cream-colored awnings.
While inside, Morgan was in the kitchen whipping up a double batch of spiked sweet tea. Other notable dishes at the party included savory rosemary rice crispy treats, watermelon agua fresca, veggie enchiladas, cinnamon whiskey bread pudding and lemon pepper chocolate s'mores.

A couple weeks ago when Morgan and I were in the Central Coast, we were lucky enough to be introduced to Cafe Quakenbush. If you're ever driving through Los Alamos, drive slowly down the main street or you might just miss this hybrid cafe/art gallery. It's nestled right next to an antique shop run by a gentleman who looks like a cross between Captain Ahab and an Amish elder.
While there, Morgan and I shared the most delicious blue cheese bacon frittata and caramel frapuccino. I also scored these adorable cat cards by Lompoc artist, Julia Rodgers. I gave two to my sister but had to keep one for myself!

Indian Canyons

indiancanyonsindiancanyons2
While in Palm Springs, I got to visit one of my favorite places in the desert, the Indian Canyons. We couldn't have picked a better time to go. All the snow on Mount San Jacinto is melting and it's creating picturesque waterfalls and lush streams at the base of the canyon. It's only 9$ to get in and you can even pack your own picnic!

Save The Dates

{STD} NOEMIE & LUDOVIC from STUDIO ARTIFICE on Vimeo.

I stumbled across this adorable save the date video from Un Beau Jour and it instantly put a smile on my face! The couple is so cute and the cinematography is amazing.

twenty-something birthday

It all started when a couple friends decided to spend the night in Palm Springs in honor of my 25th birthday. They played in the sun, in hammocks, in steam rooms, in suites, and in confetti. They celebrated everywhere their feet could take them. At the end of the night they even caught the last few minutes of The Mummy Returns. They people watched while eating fun things like coconut french toast and Keebler cookies. They came home smelling like Tropicana, sweat, and fun times!

I also wanted to share that I'm currently enrolled in an online blogging course called Blogging Your way. It's taught by Holly Becker from Decor8 and Leslie Shewring from A Creative Mint. I'm excited to get to know a few of the 450 other students in the class from all across the globe and I can't wait to see where my blog goes from here!

Bubblegum Alley

It's been a crazy couple weeks. Morgan and I have been spending the past few weekends in the Central Coast due to several Airbnb bookings. Here are a couple of photos Morgan took in Bubblegum Alley when we were in San Louis Obispo. With the amount of money we've made renting out place out, we have managed to put it towards a lovely Greenwich Village apartment we've rented for our trip to NYC in May. Is it sad that I've been spending my free time at work researching New York bakeries, food trucks, and the exact location of Carrie Bradshaws' brownstone? Which, by the way, is 66 Perry Street. If you click on street view on google maps, you can see images of tourists posing on her stoop!
