Merry Christmas Eve Eve from everyone at Free People (including those annoying sales associates who tell you not to take photos of their ornament displays!)

Christmas in Los Angeles

Christmas is in two days and I'm wearing a maxi skirt...God, I love Los Angeles. I do however sometimes crave those white Christmases you see in the movies. Oh, and this photo by Slim Aarons is just ridiculous. I love how you can barely make out the Hollywood sign in the background.

Polka Dots and French Horns

I've spent almost every night for the past two weeks wrapping presents. Those spools of ribbon and stationary I collected during the year were finally put to use. My favorite tube of wrapping paper this year had to be the black and white number with the French horns on them. I bought them from two elderly ladies at a thrift store in Palm Springs for 30 cents.
I also wanted to find a way to make fancy your average gift card. I ended up putting them in white envelopes, stamped a "Please Deliver To" on them, stuck them in a plastic sacs I got in K-town, and filled the bag with tinsel. It was a total Rowan Atkinson moment from Love Actually.

Ho Ho Meow

Happy Friday everyone! I'm kind of bummed I didn't make the opening of the West Elm store opening on Beverly last night. It was hosted by some of my favorite L.A. bloggers like Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere, and Bri from Designlovefest. I am, however, looking forward to a weekend that includes a free screening of The Muppets Christmas Carol at the Laemmle in Pasadena, hunting down an ugly Christmas sweater (preferably with cats on it), and a girls night including Love Actually and plenty of Christmas spirits!

Pinterest for Presents

When I was young, one of my favorite things to do was to make a Christmas list. Even though I usually didn’t get the presents I wanted, it still brought me joy. This year, I’m leaving Santa Baby access to my Pinterest. I created a “Me Want” list a while ago and it has acted as my visual Christmas list this year. I made Morgan create one for Christmas, and shopping has been a breeze. You could also use the boards for birthday gifts, anniversary presents, and bridal registries too!

Story Wreaths

"Creme Fraiche"

"Nanook of the North"

Ta-Da! This is why reason why I've been searching far and wide for vintage Christmas ornaments. Each wreath is around 18 inches in diameter and is custom made with all vintage glass blown ornaments. They are extremely delicate and are one of a kind! It was originally Morgan's idea to create wreaths and it sort of took off from there. I'm hoping to create more wreaths and holiday trinkets throughout the year and then apply to be a vendor at Renegade and Unique LA next December.

Holiday Preview #3

Can you spot Sosuke and I?

Happy Friday everyone! What makes this Friday even better is that today's paycheck isn't the "rent check". Anyone have any exciting plans this weekend? I'm getting ready for fun filled weekend that includes the Renegade Holiday Craft Fair, Artisinal LA, and the Rose Bowl Flea Market. I'm also going to be prepping more holiday posts for next week including my ornament craft project I've been working on for the past month. Those of you following my Holly Jolly Pinterest board have already gotten a sneak peak.

Tree Farms Do It Better

When it comes to Christmas trees, I have to say I’m one of those day-after-Thanksgiving people. I love the smell of pine too much to just have a tree for only a couple of weeks. This year, the day after Thanksgiving was spent with Morgan’s parents. They delighted us with a trip to Holloway’s, an actual tree farm in the Central Coast. Essentially, it’s is the equivalent of what the Avila Barn is to Fall. There, you can choose to chop down your own tree or peruse through the ones they have already prepared. They do it all there: flock, chop, and shake. They even have cute stands where you can purchase hot cocoa and popcorn. When do you usually get your Christmas Trees?

Holiday Gift Guide 25$

I've never not been on a budget when it comes to Christmas shopping. Even though I've been known to splurge on the sister and boyfriend, I fully understand how hard it is allocating specific funds to certain family members. To help remedy this, I'm creating holiday gift guides to help those who need it. Some of these lower ticket items could also be used for stocking stuffers. I'm creating them in increments of 25$ so sit back and enjoy!

I've always wanted to take personalized holiday cards but was too afraid they would turn out cheesy and unflattering. After spotting these amazingly adorable ones on Pinterest, it's definately going to be on my to-do list next year. Here's what Morgan and I did last year during the Holidays. But seriously, how cute are the couples in matching flannel and stripes?

Just had to share these photos of the tree the next morning. I love how this particular tree showcases your ornaments in a spectacular way! If you look hard enough, you can spot some Disney ornaments mixed together with Shiny Brites from the 40's.

I can't tell you how excited I get when Chirstmas rolls around. I was in Vegas all last week for work and could not wait to come home and get our yearly tree. We drove around to three different lots around Los Feliz to find the perfect one! We opted for a less-traditional silvertip. Apparently, they're high altitude trees that only grow around 8,000 ft, making them more rare. They also grow at a slower pace than other Christmas trees and because of the number of their branches, are more delicate. Have you gotten your tree this year?
