Happy Monday everyone! Here's a little snapshot of my lazy Saturday. Did anyone watch the Oscars last night? We ended up having to record it because we were so exhausted from our bungee trip to the Bridge to Nowhere. However, just knowing that I have the Oscar’s red carpet coverage and The Walking Dead to watch tonight is for sure going to get me through the stresses of today. Also, my co-worker brought in our Girl Scout cookie orders so I will be attempting to not eat an entire box Samoas before five o’clock.

I picked up these little guys at a farmers market in San Diego this past weekend and I can’t get over how adorable they are. Their natural color palette is so spot-on it kills me every time I see them on my kitchen windowsill (especially that light mint and lavender one). I think they would be such a fun and easy DIY and how cute would they be as placement cards for a desert themed wedding? I mean, come on!

Morgan and I spent President’s Day weekend down with his parents in San Diego. They rented an amazing flat in Little Italy that overlooked parts of the bay and we spent the whole weekend exploring the city and it’s different neighborhoods. On Sunday, we took the trolley down to Old Town and I found myself in colored heaven. I was just dying over all the vibrant pottery and handmade paper flowers around every corner.

Look what came in the post this week! It's one of those new swanky biometric passports that can help further authenticate a traveler's identity and what not. Truth be told, I'm actually more excited that they accepted my photo. I should have sent the Department the other photos as a joke!

Morgan doesn't know it yet, but this is his Valentine's Day present. I'm going to make him complete it over dinner tonight. I made it last night in a hurry and it contains words such as: adventure, hike, trail, bridge, freefall etc. Hopefully, he'll be able to figure out that I got him bungee jump tickets at the Bridge to Nowhere. My good friend's husband works at the bridge on the weekends and we’ve been wanting to go for a long time. I would normally say no to bungee jumping but seeing as how Bungee America has such a clean safety record, it would be foolish not to go! You start with a 5 mile hike to the bridge that includes several water crossings, bungee jump, eat lunch and then hike back out. Morgan’s instructed to not check Winkeland or Facebook today so don't you run around and spoil the surprise either!

What you'll need:
1/4 yd of Muslin (this will make plenty)
needle and thread
Colored Needlepoint Yarn
Cute Craft paper
loose leaf tea
Total Craft Time: 10 min per heart.
Take a 3x3 inch piece of thick craft paper fold it in half. Draw half of a heart and cut it out. Think middle school girlies. When you unfold the paper, you will have a cute and symmetrical heart.
Place your heart template on your muslin and lightly trace in pen.
Cut out your hearts but make sure you cut just inside your pen marks. Who wants inky tea?
Thread your needle and sew the heart 3/4 all the way around. I usually start on one side of the heart's crack so to speak. I'll go over the hump, down the side, up the other side and just before it starts to hump again, i'll stop.
Fill your heart with loose leaf tea (about 1 tablespoon)
Take your needlepoint thread (about 10 inches) and knot one side about 4/5 times creating a big knot ball. You might also want to take some of your yarn and pour boiling water over it to see if the color will run. I got my colored thread from Jo-Anne's and did not have a problem when I tested it. Any who, this knotted ball will essentially be sewn into the heart with the tea. Put the big knot inside with the tea and continue to sew your heart up. Make sure you sew tightly around the knot so it the string doesn't slip out.
Create your own cutsey tags to attach to the other end of your needlepoint thread. I used a scalloped pair of scissors to make them look like little biscuits. I also make them oversized to give them a whimsical feel. For some of my tags, I used glitter letter stickers and made tags that said cute stuff like: jig, pour, wink, fizz, xoxo, and bloom.
Bring water to a boil, steep and enjoy!

Hitched? Well, they changed their name to The Cream and now they’re hosting another event in Los Angeles on March 1st. I have a feeling it’s going to be nothing short of amazing if it was anything like their Palm Springs event. If you’re anything like me and are kind of obsessed with wedding blogs, or if you're looking for an excuse to dress up in your fanciest, you should come along. Also, I’ve been dabbling with the idea of getting in to weddings either as a planner or photographer so I’m hoping I can muster up enough courage to talk to people about the biz.

Yesterday, Morgan dished out some pretty good advice over brunch. Seeing as how I’ve been overwhelmed lately, he recommended I write out a list of all the things I wanted to accomplish and set deadlines for when I wanted them completed. Number one on my list was creating a new Winkeland banner (which I’ve been dying to do for ages but never got around to it). I find that when I’m not on a deadline, I’ll spend hours, days, even weeks working on a simple task. He also said that when people have deadlines, they manage to accomplish more even if they have to revisit the project later to perfect it. Here were some of my banner options I threw together last night. I ultimately went with my gut feeling and chose the banner above. Like it? It’s from the Hitched event that was held in Palm Springs last year.

via Geronimo Balloons
You may have already seen these beyond awesome Valentine's Day balloons from Geronimo circulating around the blogoshpere, but I couldn't help posting about them. How fun would it be to have these appear on your doorstep on February 14? I would spend all day taking fun photos with them in and around LA!

Whether you love or love to hate Valentine's Day, you can't deny all the cute stuff that comes out this time of year. I'm a huge girly girl and can't help but swoon over these items in pastel pinks and reds.
